This chapter, “Baab Doem,” opens with Yasir on the phone outside his house, telling Sehar that they are just leaving and will drop her Abi safely. Suddenly he sees Aqib standing there and asks in surprise, “Arey yaar, tum kab aaye?” Aqib explains that he is in a hurry for the office, hands over a sweet box his mum and dad have specially sent for the uncle, and heads back to his car. Yasir goes in with the box, warning little Abi along the way, “Doll ke bachche, araam se, koi shararat nahin karni.” Abi just pulls a face and sits in the car, desperate to get to his mum quickly.

Then the scene shifts to an office. Shezra tells Aina that the boss is calling her to his cabin. Aina picks up a file, straightens her hijab and walks in politely. “Sir, file ready kar di hai,” she says, and reminds him of his dinner meeting with Ammar Mirza tonight. The boss offers her a seat, and she declines with a simple “No sir, shukriya.” He tells her she will also come to the evening meeting, and asks her to let Hamdan Sahab know that this deal must be theirs. “Ji sir, InshaAllah,” Aina replies.

She glances at him, still busy with his laptop and talking in a careless way, and asks if she can leave. “Miss Aina, aap ko yeh poochne ki zaroorat nahin,” he says. When the work is done she can go, and she does not need his permission for that. Aina walks out without any reaction. There is not a trace of hurt on her face, or perhaps, Pakeeza Tayyaba suggests, she simply cannot show her feelings to anyone.
