Mera Ishq Vi Tu Mera Yaar Vi Tu By Maha Saif

About this novel

Mera Ishq Vi Tu Mera Yaar Vi Tu (Urdu: میرا عشق وی تُو، میرا یار وی تُو) by Maha Saif is a long, warm Urdu romance about carefree Anzala and her beloved Baarish. Anzala can’t eat breakfast until she has spoken to her Baarish Kaka, and Baarish comes running home just for a glimpse of her.

It starts with Maida trying, and failing, to get Anzala out of bed on a holiday morning. It’s past ten, Maida grumbles, Anzi is still asleep like she’s sold her horses, and Baarish Kaka has already called twice. That name does the trick. Anzala jumps out of bed, freshens up in a hurry and sits by the phone. Saniya Begum shakes her head at her, knowing the girl won’t eat a thing until she has talked to Baarish.

ایک لاڈلی، ایک دیوانہ، اور فون کی وہ گھنٹی جس کا انتظار ختم نہیں ہوتا۔

When he calls, his first question is whether his gudiya has had breakfast. She dodges it, knowing he’ll hang up and tell her to go and eat, because she wants to keep talking. He says he’s fine, although he’s burning with fever at the other end. When he asks what she plans to do while she waits two months for her result, she says a few courses and plenty of sleep, and he can’t stop smiling. She’s the kind of girl who makes everyone around her laugh. Then he tells her he’s coming home tomorrow.

When Baarish arrives, Sher Khan takes his luggage from the car, but Baarish hurries inside, desperate to see “that pari-paikar“. Saniya Begum showers him with duaen and scolds him for getting thin on mess food.

Maha Saif writes in short lines with lots of dialogue, so the 924 pages move quickly. The title, a Punjabi line meaning “you are my love and you are my friend”, sums up the feeling.
