About this novel
Mujhe Tera Har Zulm Qabool by Suhaira Awais is a romantic Urdu thriller that begins with a frightening kidnapping. Its heroine is far more scared than she looks, and the title means I accept every cruelty of yours.
“Oh God, yeh kaisa khwab hai?” Nayab is half asleep, her head heavy, convinced she is having a bad dream, because it feels as if she is not in her own house and her eyes refuse to open. When she finally manages to open them, her body feels weak and drained, and she realises she is lying in a completely strange place. Suhaira Awais describes the small room in detail: a king-size bed, a two-seater sofa, a wardrobe built into the wall, a door that probably leads to an attached bath, and pale green walls.
Slowly the memories come back. She had left home dressed up in a white lace top with dark blue jeans for her friend Hammad’s birthday party. On the way she stopped at a mall and bought him an expensive branded perfume and a T-shirt as a gift. Then, while driving to the restaurant, her car got a puncture. When she stepped out to look, someone came from behind and pressed a handkerchief over her mouth, and now she is here.
The truth hits her hard: she has been kidnapped. Nayab looks bold, confident and fearless from the outside, but inside she is timid and weak, scared of death more than most people. She is the spoiled only child of a wealthy father, and she cannot even bear a small injury. She guesses she has been taken for ransom, and the thought that kidnappers sometimes kill after getting their money makes the ground slip from under her feet. Who took her, and why, is the question that drives the rest of the novel.
ڈر جب دل میں ہو تو سب سے بہادر چہرہ بھی کانپ جاتا ہے۔
