Qatil E Muhabbat Ka Anjaam By Mariya Awan

About this novel

Qatil E Muhabbat Ka Anjaam (Urdu: قاتلِ محبت کا انجام) by Mariya Awan is a complete Urdu revenge romance that opens with an honour killing. It follows Noor-ul-Ain, the young woman left to face the man responsible, and the long road to justice.

The first scene is intense. Noor-ul-Ain is relieved to see her brother Adil and her friend Wafa in front of her – until Essa Khan arrives. Furious to see his sister Wafa holding another man’s hand, he grabs a gun from his guard. Wafa joins her hands before her brother and begs, in tears, for him to spare Noor-ul-Ain, who has done nothing wrong. Adil steps forward: if Essa wants to kill someone, let it be him – he loves Wafa and has married her, so let his sister go. But Essa Khan refuses to accept the nikah. In his family, he says, no one marries outside the khandan, and he will make an example of them.

What follows is tragic. Essa Khan fires, Wafa throws herself in front of Adil, and both are lost in a matter of moments. The novel keeps this brief and focuses on the grief rather than the violence, but readers should know the story begins with a double killing in the name of family honour.

بھائی اور سہیلی کو کھونے کے بعد، نورالعین کی بددعا اور عیسیٰ خان کا غرور۔

Noor-ul-Ain breaks free and collapses beside her brother and friend, crying, while Essa Khan stands over her in anger. She doesn’t back down. Wiping her tears, she tells him that he has killed his own sister and that one day his own love will be his undoing – her only wish is to live long enough to see what becomes of him. Her defiance enrages him, and he orders his guards to bury the two bodies and take Noor-ul-Ain with them. Even as she begs to see her brother’s face one last time and to be allowed to go to her mother, he warns her that she will soon regret ever speaking to him that way.

Mariya Awan builds a dark, emotional story around cruelty, loss and a curse that may come true. The title – “the end of love’s murderer” – promises that Essa Khan’s arrogance will eventually catch up with him.
