Mulaqat e Ishq Rahi Udhari By Maria Awan

About this novel

Mulaqat E Ishq Rahi Adhoori (Urdu: ملاقاتِ عشق رہی ادھوری) by Mariya Awan is a complete Urdu crime-thriller romance of gangs and a brave officer. It sets a ruthless gang and its deadly enforcer against an honest, fearless police officer, with love caught in between.

The novel opens by introducing Babu Pehlwan, a tall, heavily built man of about forty-five who looks exactly like a wrestler: a thick beard and moustache, starched shalwar kameez and a special turban. He knows every move of hand-to-hand fighting and can kill a man with his bare hands. He is the head of the Babu Gang, whose members call him Babu Bhai, and the gang is involved in every kind of illegal business imaginable. It has so far stayed out of the reach of every security agency, thanks to its strict rules: no member is allowed to use what he sells, and no one is allowed to marry, because Babu Pehlwan believes marriage makes a man weak. Most recruits are people with nobody in the world, or children taken from orphanages and trained from childhood. In return, they are given every comfort, and betrayal is punished with death.

His most trusted man is Bashar Lodhi, whom Babu Bhai raised like his own son. Handsome, with sharp features and a strong build, Bashar is even more dangerous than his mentor. He is the son of a man who died serving Babu Bhai; before dying, the man handed Bashar over to him. Since the age of five Bashar has been with Babu Pehlwan, trained in every way, and he is expected to lead the gang one day. At thirty, he has barely smiled or cried; he speaks little, and he behaves less like a man and more like a robot, doing only what has been fed into his mind.

ایک طرف بے رحم گینگ کا مہرہ، دوسری طرف وطن سے محبت کرنے والا افسر۔

On the other side stands Sultan Chaudhry, a brave, patriotic police officer who recently became IG through sheer hard work. He has never been afraid of death, and he is ruthless toward anyone who betrays the country. He has many enemies, but by Allah’s grace he has always escaped serious harm, and he keeps a sharp eye on everyone around him.

Mariya Awan sets up a tense clash between crime and duty, and the title – “a meeting of love that stayed incomplete” – suggests that romance and tragedy will cross paths. A gripping start for fans of action-thriller Urdu novels.
