Ye Ishq By Hamna Tanveer

About this novel

Ye Ishq by Hamna Tanveer is a long, glamorous Urdu romance about a spoiled rich girl and a powerful, arrogant hero. Their love story is set in a world of palaces, guards and secrets.

The novel opens with a girl pointing at a servant and ordering him to do sit-ups, fast. The man bows his head and obeys. Her silky black hair falls down her back like a waterfall. Just then, Zubair Randhawa walks in. “Danine, yeh kya?” Danine has her back to him, and the writer describes her in loving detail: a moon-like face, big grey eyes, rosy lips and a height of five and a half feet.

Her father puts a hand on her shoulder and asks why she is so angry this early in the morning. The servant lost her register, Danine explains, which had all her notes, and she is furious. Zubair calmly sends the servant away and leads his daughter to breakfast, while Danine pouts that she wanted to punish him more. Then she softens and reminds him with a sweet smile, “Dad, new year remember? Mera gift.” He promises he hasn’t forgotten.

When the guards and driver see her leaving the palace-like house, they snap to attention. “Madam, chalaun?” the driver asks, and Danine, busy with her phone, just nods.

In another grand room, a man stands in front of a mirror, fixing his look. Hamna Tanveer gives him a striking introduction: a fit body, milky skin, a stylish beard, dark captivating eyes, proud features, a cleft in his cheek and thick black hair set with gel. A servant reminds him of today’s meeting with his friend Hamdani Sahab, but he cancels it, because he has other work today. On the phone he tells Rafiq that the job must be perfect, because he doesn’t tolerate mistakes. Hamna Tanveer sets up two proud, powerful personalities who are clearly heading for a fiery clash.

یہ عشق بھی عجیب ہے، جو جھکنا نہ جانے اسے بھی جھکا دیتا ہے۔
