About this novel
Silsila e Ishq Season 1 by Salman is the first part of a historical Urdu romance set in a troubled kingdom. It is a story of love, palace intrigue and a war on the border.
It opens with a short note from the writer, “Likhari Ki Awaaz.” Loving someone is not a sin, Salman writes, so why does the world treat lovers so cruelly? Love does not belong to everyone, and those who find it are lucky. The world often turns against people in love, yet they never stop loving each other. In love, union is not a condition. Lovers can love each other even from far away, and some give their lives to prove it. This is a tale, he says, in which lovers face a bitter end. The background may be old, but the way the story is told is fresh.
The first chapter, “Jab Mohabbat Shuru Hui,” begins in the kingdom of Maheeb, where things are getting worse every day. An enemy country has started sending troops into the border areas, looting and spreading terror. The king knows everything but cannot stop it, because his army commander passed away just two days ago, and without a trained commander, facing the enemy’s skilled army seems impossible.
Meanwhile, a palki moves along a path between green fields. Village women watch it curiously and whisper that it carries a prince from another country, or maybe someone the king is going to marry. The palki reaches a busy city, one of the most important in the kingdom. In a house nearby, Sehrish Bai shows her friends Farzana Bai and Sadia Bai how dark her mehndi has turned, and they tease her that her husband will love her very much. Then the palki reaches the palace, where King Asfand Hindvi, his advisers and soldiers stand waiting, and flowers are ready to be showered. Salman builds a grand world of royalty, love and danger.
محبت میں وصل شرط نہیں، سچا عشق دوریوں میں بھی زندہ رہتا ہے۔
