Ishq Rulata Hai By Haniya Jutt

About this novel

Ishq Rulata Hai by Haniya Jutt is an emotional Urdu family romance about a mother’s sudden illness and two young couples. It follows the tears that love so often brings, as its title, love makes you cry, promises.

The novel opens with Saniya running breathlessly into her brother’s room: “Zaid Bhai!” Zaid, busy with a file, snaps that he hates being disturbed, but when Saniya starts crying he jumps up. Their mother, Aqeela Begum, is in severe pain. When they reach her room, she is holding her chest and can barely speak before she faints. Zaid quickly lifts her, Karamdin brings the car, and they rush her to hospital.

Outside the ICU, Dr Farhan comes out and tells them it was a heart attack. It is her second one, the doctor explains, and a third could be fatal. She is being moved to a room and can go home in a few days. Saniya thanks Allah through her tears. Zaid asks if something upset their mother, and Saniya explains she was studying for her chemistry paper when she found her in pain.

Meanwhile, in another part of the city, the mood is light. Tahreem and her friend Mashal are getting ready for an outing. Waqas and Tahreem sit together at an ice cream parlour, and he asks if she has spoken to her mother about their rishta. She says she hasn’t found the right moment yet, and when he presses her she gets annoyed, and he can tell she is losing patience. Later, Tahreem runs into her proud cousin Neena while shopping, and the two exchange sharp words about looks, pride and who is better.

Haniya Jutt moves between hospital fears and everyday romance, and sets up a story where love brings both happiness and pain.

عشق جتنا گہرا ہو، آنسو بھی اتنے ہی سچے ہوتے ہیں۔
