Bhula Dena Mujhe (Urdu: بھلا دینا مجھے) by Fatima Rizwan is a short Urdu cousin romance about Noor, a dreamy girl who has just fallen in love. Her playful friends Maria and Rida will not rest until she tells them who it is.

The story opens at a window at night. “Noor, where are you lost?” Maria asks, watching Noor stare at the sky. “Nowhere, yaar – I’m just looking at the moon, how beautiful it is,” Noor says dreamily. Maria teases: then find yourself a “crush” too, because nobody will ever be as beautiful as this moon. “Uff, Allah, don’t talk like a mad person!” Noor scolds with fake anger.

Rida walks in holding her clothes and asks why Noor hasn’t changed yet – she’s still in her function dress. “Just a little longer, I’m looking at the moon.” Rida looks at her face closely and notices something has changed. Maria grabs Noor’s chin to examine her, and a strange shine in Noor’s eyes gives her away. Rida jumps up and announces at the top of her voice: “Noor is in love!” Noor pulls her down in panic – what if someone hears? Rida only gets louder: “Let them hear! Is it a crime to love someone?”

Just then the door opens and their Dadi Jaan walks in, asking if all’s well – why are they making such a noise? Rida points mischievously at Noor and says she’s in love – with the moon! Dadi, shaking her head at the three “devils”, leaves the room, and the moment she’s gone, the girls fall on Noor again. After much teasing and drama, Noor finally confesses: “Shayan.” “Who? Shayan?” “Najma Khala’s son, Shayan,” she says. “What?” both girls shriek in disbelief.

Fatima Rizwan keeps the opening light, warm and funny, but the title – “forget me” – hints that Noor’s first love won’t be easy.
