About this novel
Anmol Mohabbat (Urdu: انمول محبت) by Fatima Rizwan is a complete Urdu family romance about two lively sisters and their teasing brother. Mariyana, Aryana and their gentle brother Taha grow up in a warm, loving home among green hills.
The story opens on a peaceful morning. Sunlight slips through the curtains and a cool breeze plays with them, filling the room with a lovely atmosphere. One girl is sleeping peacefully with her hands on her eyes; she turns over, sees the sunlight on her face, and drifts back into sleep. Then the door bursts open. “Mari, get up!” a girl standing nearby pleads. “My name is not Mari, it’s Mariyana,” comes the sleepy reply as she rubs her eyes. “Come on, get up, it’s already eight!” This time the blanket is pulled off.
“What kind of manners is this?” Mariyana sits up with a jolt, glaring at the girl standing in front of her. Aryana is clearly annoyed too: “You’re always rude on your turn – when you have to make tea, you’re as lazy as anything!” Mariyana tries to sweet-talk her: “Aren’t you my dear sister? You go, I’m coming.” “Everyone has already left – Ammi and Abba are waiting for you!” Aryana says dramatically. Mariyana laughs at her and, finally getting up, ties up her hair, grabs her dupatta and heads downstairs with her sister.
سبز پہاڑ، صبح کی چائے، اور بہن بھائیوں کی محبت بھری نوک جھونک۔
Outside, their parents, Asiya Begum and Fawad Sahib, are sitting in the lawn among the green hills, while their brother Taha reads the newspaper. Aryana teases about how lazy her sister is, and Taha warns her not to call his sister lazy. She complains that he always takes Aryana’s side, and he sweetly pinches Aryana’s cheek. Aryana brings the tea, Fawad Sahib praises it after the first sip, and Mariyana makes a face – her own tea is just as good! Fawad Sahib gently tells Aryana to say her sister’s name properly, and Aryana, hugging Mariyana, laughs that she was only joking. Taha, the protective brother, reminds them how many times he’s told them not to use words like “yaar”, and all three burst out laughing together.
Fatima Rizwan writes with warmth and affection, and the title – “priceless love” – promises a romance as precious as the family love shown here.
