Be Inteha Novel by Iqra Sheikh

About this novel

Be Inteha (Urdu: بے انتہا, “beyond limits”) by Iqra Sheikh is an Urdu romance that sets two very different lives side by side, a teacher’s and a feared man’s. Abeeha keeps her small home going on a school teacher’s pay, while the man known only as DK never forgives a betrayal.

The novel opens with Ayesha Begum pacing by the door, praying for her daughter’s safety because Abeeha is an hour late. When Abeeha finally walks in with her usual salam, the tiredness of the whole day vanishes the moment she smiles. Her mother never liked her working at the school, but there’s no one else to run the house. Abeeha apologises: there was extra work today, and she’ll try to come home on time. She brushes off her mother’s worries, says she’s starving, and goes to wash up. Ayesha Begum smiles, knowing Abeeha only said she was hungry so that her mother, who has been waiting and hasn’t eaten either, would eat too.

ایک طرف ماں کی دعائیں، دوسری طرف ایک ایسا شخص جو معاف کرنا نہیں جانتا۔

Then the scene changes to the middle of the night. A man with cold eyes stands outside a building and studies it. He has come to finish off a traitor, someone who thought he could cheat him and get away with it. He climbs to the third floor and opens the locked door without effort. Inside, the man packing his bag turns round, drops it, and whispers just two letters: “DK…” He begs to be forgiven, hands joined. DK answers that the only punishment for betraying him is death, pulls the trigger, and says he never learned how to forgive.

Iqra Sheikh doesn’t say yet how these two worlds will meet, but the title and that opening leave little doubt that they will. It’s 566 pages of romance with a dark, dangerous edge.
