Khud sy Khuda tak By Eman Shaikh

About this afsana

Khud Sy Khuda Tak (Urdu: خود سے خدا تک) by Eman Shaikh is an Urdu afsana about a young woman’s journey from darkness and ghaflat to God. It is the story of Iman, a girl with restless eyes and a broken heart, who slowly finds her way from darkness into light.

When we first meet her, Iman doesn’t look lost at all. She is sitting in the university canteen with her group of six friends, drinking tea and chatting, full of confidence. Her friend Zainab tells her it’s time she told her family what she has decided. Iman, crunching her chips, agrees without hesitation. Today, she says, she’ll tell them at home that she wants to start her own dance channel. Becoming a dancer isn’t just her dream, it’s her wish, and Jahangir has no objection.

اندھیروں سے روشنی تک — ایک لڑکی کا سفر، خود سے خدا تک۔

Zainab asks curiously how she can be so sure of him. Iman answers happily that he will never leave her alone: she trusts him more than her own life. After the canteen the friends pile into Iman’s car, singing along to songs, and Iman, a girl living in her own world, smiles to herself. Today she’ll tell everyone, and her dream will come true.

The reader, who has already been told this is a story about finding God, can feel the turn coming. Eman Shaikh sets up the contrast well: a girl who believes she has everything worked out, standing just before the moment her life will change. It’s a short, meaningful read for anyone who enjoys stories of hidayat and second chances.
